Obituary for Shannon Lynn Cherny-Rucker

Beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend Shannon Lynn Cherny-Rucker, 40, of Port Ewen, NY died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021 after a brief illness.

Shannon was born in Kingston, NY on July 28th, 1981, to Lorrie (Palen) Morse of Port Ewen and Joseph Cherny of Kingston.

Shannon graduated from Kingston High School, where she was a dedicated member of the softball team. At Ulster Community College, where she received an associate’s degree, she continued playing the game she loved. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Life University, Shannon began working at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games where she rose to the position of Director of Procurement and was appointed to the Board of Directors.

Shannon was always a planner and at just 4 years old, her favorite toy was her clipboard. She was just as well known for her take-charge attitude and keen business sense as she was for her warm smile and infectious laughter. Shannon had a generous nature and constantly put others first. She loved nothing more than spending time with loved ones and in particular her son Maximillian, the pride and joy of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 9 years David Rucker, their son Maximilian Rucker, her mother Lorrie Morse and her husband Jim, her father Joseph Cherny and his wife Tammy, her grandfather Bruce Palen, her sisters, Courtney Cherny-Geuss and her husband Jared; Kameron Gagliardi and her husband Gino; Jordan Morse and Tori Salomani, her niece Brooke Geuss and her nephew Cruz Geuss. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

She is predeceased by her grandparents Anna Kelley, Charles Cherny and Judith (Argulewicz) Cherny.
