Ronald J. "R.J." Swift Jr, 49, of Cottekill, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly Monday September 28, 2020, at home. He was born in Kingston, N.Y. on May 8, 1971 a son of the late Ronald and Marie (Bradford) Swift.

R.J. was employed as a laborer with JL Bridgeview Construction in Kingston. He was previously employed for many years with Dr. Blacktop, a company owned and operated by the late George Lent. R.J. considered George to be like a father.

R.J. just enjoyed being outside! He loved to drive, taking car rides (He preferred, insisted, and had to be the driver every time of course). He and his wife, Lola enjoyed "getaways" often to Lake George, visits to the Casinos, and road trips somewhere out of town. He enjoyed working outdoors, doing his own yard work and landscaping. Fall time was his favorite.

Plowing was a thing for him (not the shoveling so much). His view was "let it snow, that's money". He loved riding quads with friends and camping being the campfire "pyro" and all, or just playing around with anything that had a motor. All who knew R.J. well, knew everything he owned with a motor had a set of "His Balls". Camo, Carhartt, and Yankees! Guaranteed at least one of them, if not all of them (Yes, all at once) was part of his everyday outfit.

He was a huge fan of the NY Yankees. He made that known with his hats, shirts, car stickers followed by his sarcastic comments to anyone that was a NY Mets fan.

Everyone knew RJ for his sense of humor, usually wise and sarcastic.

RJ had a lot of love left to give and share with so many and was taken from us way too soon.

In addition to his wife Lola (White) Swift, R.J. is survived by seven children, son Uriah Weaver, daughter Michelle Weaver, son Adam Jamieson, daughter Justina Lopez, son Ronald Swift III, son Tyler Swift, and son Joseph Fleming, two sisters, Rosalyn (Kirk) Ramsdell and Cheryle (Robert LaTorre) Demskie, two nephews Joseph Swift and Adam Demskie, and a niece Brenda Demskie. Grandchildren, aunt, uncles, cousins and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends also survive.

He was always fun to be around and was truly loved by many. He will be greatly missed!!

And for those of us who know, just know...
(In his voice) Peace out, Love ya, me and "my balls"

The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus with the care and cremation service arrangements for R.J.

Cremation was held at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.

Services are private at the discretion of the RJ's family.
