Robert W. Adams, 69, of Lucas Avenue, Kingston went home to the Lord, Tuesday, May 10, 2022, while in the comforting presence of his loving family.
He was born in Gastonia, NC on August 10th, 1952, a son of Helen (Ward) Adams of Gastonia, NC and the late James Adams.
A veteran of the US Navy, he was employed as an explosives technician for Dyno Nobel in Port Ewen, and then Hannaford.
Robert enjoyed singing, dancing, music, basketball and fishing, as well as spending time with friends and family. He was humble, kind, caring, funny, and just the coolest guy ever! Robert touched everyone he met and was a mentor and role model for many.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Benjamin) Adams, his children, Robert (Oobee) Adams, Jr. and Arisha Adams, Lynette Litts, Christina Gardiner, Kelly Neal, and Jade Adams, nephew Freddie Monroe, Jr., and two sisters, Sheila and Debra Adams of Gastonia, NC. Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and dear friends also survive.
In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his brothers, Jesse, James (Sonny), and Michael Adams.
A Homegoing Celebration officiated by the Rev. Shirley Whitlock will be begin at 12:00 pm, Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. Burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.
Robert's family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The family requires visitors wear masks while inside the funeral home.
Robert's family extends special thanks to all of the kind people at the VA Stratton Hospital in Albany, the VA Clinic, the UC Veterans Service Agency, and Hudson Valley Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Robert's memory to either: Hudson Valley Hospice or Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
