Raymond C. "Jake" Croswell
Raymond C. "Jake" Croswell, 88, formerly of Hurley, and former Town Clerk and Town Supervisor of the Town of Hurley, died Sunday morning, July 15, 2018 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine.

Jake was born in Kingston, NY on February 28th, 1930, a son of the late Roy and Lillian (Langlois) Croswell.

He was employed as an upholsterer for Pilgrim Furniture Company in Kingston for over 20 years, and was also self employed as an upholsterer.

A former Deacon at Hurley Reformed Church, he was a member of many local organizations which include The Hurley Lions Club (where he once served as president), member of Rondout Country Golf Club, Hurley Republican Club, and was an original member of the Hurley Volunteer Fire Dept.

An avid sports enthusiast, Jake enjoyed bowling in the bowling league, and coaching little league, adult baseball and Hurley Reformed Church basketball. Above all sports, golf was absolutely his biggest love and enjoyment.

Jake is survived by two sons, Dennis (Mary Ellen "Mimi") Croswell of Kingston and Brian (Rosalind) Croswell of Wappingers Falls, one sister, Lois (Louis) Petramale of Kingston, one brother Cornelius Croswell of Fla, three grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Croswell, and Alexandra (Patrick) Kelly, two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Ava Kelly, and three step-grandchildren, Louie, Rene and Thomas Marven.

He is predeceased by his wife Janet (Lyons) Croswell in 2013, a daughter Debra Dale in 1956, three brothers, Roy, Dewitt "Cy" and Irving Croswell, and three sisters, Iva Junger, Pauline Robins, and Eilene Holubec.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 18th, 2018, at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus.

The service will begin at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 19th, 2018, at the funeral home, The Rev. Charles E. Stickley will officiate. Burial will follow at Hurley Cemetery.
