Rawlson Harry "Rocky" Longendyke, 74, of Kingston, NY, died Sunday, September 13th, 2020 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Kingston, NY, on February 26th, 1946, a son of the late John and Aletha (Delavan) Longendyke, and was raised in Sleightsburgh, Town of Esopus, NY.

A US Navy veteran and Merchant Marine, he was employed as a machinist and with Marpac Industries. Rawlson was also a self-employed artist of native artwork.

Rawlson was very proud of his Native-American (Mohawk) Heritage and enjoyed his artistic gift of making native artwork in many forms which included jewelry, paintings, beads, pipes and Leather Craft. He loved visiting and working with his good friend and owner Peter at the Berkshire Bird Sanctuary in Hoosick Falls, NY which specialized in Eagle and rare birds rescue

He was a very religious man who knew that one day he would be welcomed home to the Lord.

Rawlson is survived by his children, Kirk Longendyke of Worcester, Mass, Amy Pastir of Saylorsburg, PA, Thomas Bell and Eric Bell, both of Saugerties, two brothers, David Longendyke of Port Ewen, and Richard Longendyke of Kingston, and six grandchildren, Taeyoung Lee Longendyke, Trevor and Victoria Bell, Steeler Gromoll, Tyler Pastir and Thomas Bell, three step-grandchildren, Erica Foster, and Thomas and Jasmine Bollebach-Bell, Jamar Jackson, and one step great-granddaughter, Cleveland Foster. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He is predeceased by his sisters, Dolores Morano, Mary Gallagher, Shirley Longendyke, and Aletha Sulko, and brothers, John, Raymond, Robert, George and Edwin Longendyke.

The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, with the care and graveside service arrangements for Rawlson.

A graveside service followed by burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will be held at Montrepose Cemetery, 75 Montrepose Ave, Kingston, NY on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 11:00 am. Face coverings and social distancing are required at the cemetery.
