Obituary for "Chee-Cheeh"

Olivia “Chee-Cheeh” Dunn-Velazquez, 61, of West O'Reilly St, Kingston died Thursday, March 29th, 2018 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.

She was eldest girl, born in Brooklyn, NY on October 21st, 1956, a daughter of the late William Sherriff and Dorothy Mae Dunn. She was also the eldest girl of her other siblings: Joseph R. Riley, William D. Dunn, Ivy Riley-Thomas, Hassan Bilal, Mikal Knox and LyndaDynese Dunn.

In August 1982, Olivia married Ismael Velazquez who currently resides in Kingston, NY. As a retired Signal Maintainer for Metro North Railroad, they moved from Bronx, NY to Kingston in July 2013 upon their retirement. Those who knew her well, knew of her to be a shy, openhearted, fun-loving person.

While residing in Kingston, always reading the bible and having a great love for Christ, Olivia gave her life to Christ in January 2014 at New Progressive Baptist Church.

Olivia is survived by her husband, her two step children, her brothers Joseph and Hassan; her sisters Ivy and LyndaDynese as well as, a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and not to be forgotten, her five grandchildren and her “fur-baby”, Tommy.

Olivia’s’ family has entrusted her care to Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, NY.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 7, from 9:30 am to 11 am at New Progressive Baptist Church, 8 Hone Street, Kingston, NY.

A Home Going service will commence at 11 am, Saturday, the Rev. Dr. G. Modele Clarke, celebrant. Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery, West O’Reilly St., Kingston, NY.
