Obituary

Mary Ann (Mottsey) Jones, 74, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, February 4, 2019. Mary Ann was born in Kingston on June 3, 1944 and resided in Kingston until after her retirement. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Mottsey and Helen Kahrs Mottsey.

She married Herbert Jones on February 28, 1965 and together they raised two sons, Chris (Kara) Jones of Kingston and Brian Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida. She had one granddaughter, Katherine Jones, whom she adored.

Mary Ann graduated from Kingston High School in 1962. Following graduation, she started her career as secretary at the KHS office. When her children got older, she worked for Dr. Naghsh for several years. She returned to the Kingston School District as secretary in the reading department, office manager at J Watson Bailey School, and then worked in the personnel office at Central until her retirement.

Mary Ann enjoyed baking, camping, traveling, watching the NY Yankees, and being with friends; but most paramount, she loved being with her family; they were most important part of her life. Her life, love and laughter touched everyone who she came in contact, both in personal and professional. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

In addition to her husband and two sons, she is also survived by two sisters, Jackie Roudis (John Taylor) of St Remy and Toni (Ed) Weber of Hurley, brother-in-law, David (JoAnn) Jones of Rosendale, and sister-in-law, Sharon Heller of PA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, aunts, cousins and countless dear friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:45 pm at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. A service will follow at 7:45 pm, Deacon Tim Dean will officiate. Cremation followed by burial will be private at a later date at the discretion of the family.

My deepest sympathy on your loss. Mary Ann was a joy to work with. She never failed to have a friendly word, a smile, or a sparkle in her eye over something that she looked forward to sharing.
She is in my thoughts and prayers as are you, her beloved family.
I will have a Mass said for Mary Ann. Rest in Peace in the arms of our Lord.
