John Michael "Butch" Lockwood, 64, of Elmendorf Street, Kingston passed away while in the comforting presence of his family, on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, following a courageous battle
cancer. Just prior to his passing, John was able to enjoy a family barbecue and the 4th of July Fireworks celebration in Saugerties.

He was born in Kingston, New York on March 28th, 1955, a son of the late Beatrice (Lockwood) Appollonia.

John was self-employed as a carpenter for various locations in the Kingston NY area, including Fairview Garden Apartments and the Kingston Auto Showcase. He was a craftsman who enjoyed renovations, especially projects involving woodworking. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and having a drink with family and friends.

John was always there to help others.

He is survived by daughters, Amanda Lockwood of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Ginny Lockwood of Kingston, Jenashah Lilley of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, one son, John Michael Lockwood, Jr. of Harmonsburgh, Pennsylvania, and one brother, Charlie R. Lockwood, Sr. of Kingston. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to his mother, he is predeceased by one sister, Mary Anne Woodworth, who died December 22, 2018.

The Lockwood family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, with the care and cremation service arrangements for John.

In following John's wishes, there are no calling hours or services. Cremation will be held at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.

Love and miss you always Daddy!!! I hope to pass on your love of woodworking, carpentry, painting and mechanics to your grandson. I figure you are up there playing with him and hugging him all the time before he comes down here to us, I will always treasure our memories and time spent together. This is a tough one but thru the strength you gave me I will get pass this obstacle like all the others. I will always be Daddy's Little Girl and carry you with me always. I hope I make you proud. Always watch over us and guide us.
