Harry R. "Pete" Shoemaker, 92, of formerly of Henry St, Kingston, died Monday, September 24th, 2018 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Port Ewen, NY on September 5th, 1926, a son of the late Harry and Ella Mae (Purhamus) Shoemaker.
Pete was employed as a housekeeper and in maintenance. He was an avid collector of numerous things, including antiques, and loved animals, especially cats. He had many friends and was well-liked by anyone he met.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Maryanne Banks, and her husband William Jr., of Ulster Park, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his companion of 44 years, Anna Van Leuvan who died in 2000, brothers Jimmy, Clifford, and Charles, and sisters, Gertrude, Mary, and Addie.
The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, with the care and cremation service arrangements for Pete.
In following Pete's wishes, cremation at Wiltwyck Crematory and inurnment at Wiltwyck Cemetery will be private.
