Obituary for Donald Van Etten

Donald Van Etten, of Ulster Park, passed away peacefully in the comforting presence of his family, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 88.

He was born in Kingston, NY on September 9, 1931, a son of the late Charles and Clara (Kraus) Van Etten.

He is survived by his lovely wife Helen, three children Donald Jr, Debra and John, four grandchildren and one great grandson. He is further survived by his brothers Charles and Robert and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Dorothy (Van Etten) Mikesh.

He retired from IBM in 1987, and was a proud patriot and US Navy veteran.

Donald will be fondly remembered for his time spent with members of the Town of Esopus Senior Citizens Organization and as a lifetime member of the Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386, including his time spent as a member of the VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard, and the VFW Boy Scouts Pack.

Graveside services with military honors at the Ulster County Veterans section of the New Paltz Cemetery will be held privately.
