Obituary for Dean Scott Baker

Dean Scott Baker, 64, of Robin Lane, Kingston passed away at home in the comforting presence of his loving family and dear friends on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 following a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Kingston, New York on February 2nd, 1957, a son of the late Frederick and Angela (Dubois) Baker.

Dean was self-employed in the family business, Baker Carpet Sales and Cleaning Service, for over 45 years.

He was always the life of a party. He loved to travel to the Caribbean, especially to Jamaica. Everyone who met Dean loved him. There are stories about Dean, that we will all hold close to our hearts forever. Dean was well known as a very giving person and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Bernedette (Lukaszewski) Baker, his son, Cody Baker, and many of Cody's friends and neighbors who Dean considered cherished family. He is also survived by his two daughters, Courtney Baker of Saugerties and Jessica Baker of West Hurley, his grandson Noah, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dean will be sorely missed by his canine companion, "Sully".

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Bonnie Baker (2019).

The family will receive friends during a walk-through memorial visitation period at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Face masks are required and social distancing will limit occupancy in the funeral home.

A graveside service, followed by inurnment, will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, May 6, 2021, in the Baker family plot in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
