Obituary for Patrick Kane

Patrick Kane
Patrick Kelley Kane, 54, of Utica, formerly of Kingston and Kearney NJ, died Saturday June 17th, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a courageous battle with Liver Cancer.

He was the son of the Late Joseph F. Augustine and Florence Augustine.

Pat was a veteran of the United States Army, serving 6 years and who was deployed during Operation Desert Storm. He also served 15 years in the National Guard of Kingston and participated in securing Ground Zero during 9/11. Pat was recently employed by PuroClean-Kingston as a supervisor.

He was an avid baseball and football fan who was a die hard fan of both the New York Mets and New York Giants. Pat loved spending time camping, concerts and being with family. Pat never let his illness prevent him from doing the things he loved to do and vowed to fight until the end, which he did with courage and dignity, once again showing us the person we knew and loved.

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Heather Lynn (Pape) Kane, step-sons Brandon and Devin Truong, daughter Elle Rueger, brothers James Kane and Tim Augustine, sisters Sharon Michelli, Colleen Colon, Candace Melillo, Patricia Augustine, Grandson Jensen Rueger, and in-laws, Mickey and Patti Sparling. Many nephews and nieces also survive.

Friends will be received at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park Town of Esopus on Saturday, June 24th, from 1 pm to 3 pm. A service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, thence to the Esopus American Legion Post 1298 Memorial Monument for military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard. Cremation to be held privately at Wiltwyck Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ulster County SPCA in Pat's memory.
